RE: Let's talk contstruction: aluminum vs. wood

Sunset Creek and some Sunnybrooks offer aluminum framed structure with aluminum siding. Mine has been flawless so far.

RE: ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS - NEW DOMETIC RECALL

I'm sure glad you made a sticky for this. I missed the original post. I really don't understand why a problem that has been around since 2003 is still affecting new trailers. Yes, my 07 is in the recall. I'm lucky that a local mobile RV service was listed as an authorized repair center. He should "repair" mine today.

RE: Eyes burning

Have a couple of Maxxaire's installed over your vents, leave them open, crack a couple of windows open, and no more smell anytime you use it.

RE: Is it my imagination?

We noticed the same thing over July 4th week. The campground was full, but there were a lot more PUP's and tents than last year.

RE: Awning Lights..Do You Leave Them Plugged In All Night?

I use a photocell with timer set to turn off 4 hours after they come on, so I don't have to remember to unplug them.

RE: Anyone selling because of gas prices?

We just spent the last two weeks painting our new to us house and moving, and I'm tired of trippin' over boxes! I've had reservations since Feb. for this weekend, and I'm going camping no matter what the cost, or I'm going to LOSE MY MIND!

RE: Hitch Systems/Trailer Weight/ Trailer Length

I just switched to a 1200/12,000# Reese strait line, and I am extremely pleased with it, especially for under $500.00.

RE: Tonneau Cover Impact on MPG

They may not improve fuel milage, but a hard cover sure makes it nice to have secure storage, camping or just runing errands in town. I have a RollBack brand that rolls up like a garage door, not totally waterproof like a fiberglass one, but you don't have to remove it if you haul something tall.

RE: 2 valves on the black tank?

On a previous TT, the valve on the black tank seeped enough that when you pulled off the cap to dump, you would get a "surprise" on your glove. Talked with the dealer service, and their advice was a secondary valve that attatched where the cap normally goes, then the cap hooks to it. Worked great. That may be what you have.

RE: Are you simple or do you break out the big guns?

Since the price of gas has went up so much, we're doing longer, less frequent trips this year. That makes it easier to justify the things we put out - awning, awning mat, awning lights, chairs, grill, fry griddle, and a necessity in the Tennessee woods, an EZ up with screens! I also have a clamp light hooked up in the EZ up for after dark Rook games.

RE: Used heater in new TT for first time, smoke alarm went off!

Probably just new heater "burn-in". I took the battery out of my smoke detector, turned the thermostat to 80 degrees, and let it run for 30 minutes. I then let it air out, put the battery back in the detector, and turned the heat back on. Very little smell and no smoke. I learned this by my BIL's experience of not checking his out before camping in a new unit. Standing outside in cold weather waiting for your unit to air out is no fun! It's great that you are checking things out before your first trip. JT.

RE: Pick up our new Sunset Creek tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Congrats and good luck! Just took the cover off of ours Wednesday, and now I'm ready to go, if the weather would just cooperate. I hope you have a little better weather down there! Enjoy!

RE: New Tow Vehicle, is it enough..............

I think the balance is off between TV & TT. Time to upgrade to a much LARGER TT now. If that F350s not straining, it will feel unappreciated!

RE: Will the price of gas impact the industry?

We're like a lot of others, we're going less frequently, but staying longer when we do. Gotta get more bang for your gas buck! Like has been said before, we enjoy camping too much not to go, we'll just have to "tighten up" in other areas to offset the cost.

RE: This summer... closer to home or???

We're taking shorter distance, less frequent trips this year, but staying longer. 4 & 5 day weekend trips instead of more 2 & 3 ones. Really enjoyed the trip to DeGray Lake last year, but it may be a while before we can do that again.

RE: Where do you store your weight distribution bars?

I store mine in a rack mounted in the pass-through storage made from 1/2" PVC from a photo that was posted on here last year. It holds the spring bars and friction bar out of the way. I then just set the hitch head in the storage area and cover the ball. Since I bought a Reece Strait-line over the Winter, I'll have to see how everything will work out now when I get it installed. We bought a SC 279RB last July and no problems so far. Fit and finish are great and we love the room in it. Can we go camping yet? ARRGH, I hate Winter!

RE: Soft top or fiberglass

On my previous truck, I had a fiberglass topper, and it was great, unless you needed to haul something taller than the bed rails. Then the DW and I had to wrestle it off the truck, and they're heavy! On my new truck, I bought a RollBak, that rolls up like a garage door. You loose a litle storage where the canister sits at the front of the bed, but it sure is nice when you haul something tall. It does leak a small amount at the corners of the tailgate, but I have it nearly sealed with some weatherstrip. My previous truck already had the fiberglass topper installed, and I thought it would be the first thing I would take off and sell, but now I wouldn't have a truck without some kind of cover. JT
